Common Instruments

The standard wedding ensemble is a string quartet.  Feel free to mix and match though.  The addition of a trumpet or flute can really enhance the sound.

A string quartet contains two violins, a viola, and a cello.  A string trio is best composed of two violins and a cello.

The more musicians you have, the easier it will be to hear the music, unless the venue has a PA system.  Here are some recommendations for ensemble size: 

50 guests = 2 musicians
100 guests = 3 musicians
150 guests = 4 musicians
